Mom back in hospital
Hi Folks,
So yesterday Dad took Mom home from the Mayo Clinic. After 2 days of prep, the meeting with the oncologist there lasted for only 2 hours. They were checked out and back on the road at 10:30 am.
We've been very concerned about Mom because she had not been eating or drinking, even though Dad tried to get her to drink water and her boost drinks. He finally came to the conclusion on the way home that the pain meds he had been giving her for her pain related to the radiation may have dulled her appetite, and contributed to her not eating. So he was going to stop her pain meds today.
Turns out last night however, she started having trouble breathing. So he rushed her back up to the VA emergency room, and because of her lack of food and water, her remaining kidney began to shut down. That's why she was having a hard time breathing.
So she is in the emergency room now, and Dad called when he was home briefly to pick up a few things before heading back to the hospital. If he can, he is going to call me again tonight,
but he may not be able to easily. If they can get her kidney restarted and get her stabilized, they will move her into a room at the VA for recovery.
I will try to keep you posted. I may be headed back pretty quickly.
